Find your best option for engaging! Participation in a general committee requires a year-long commitment, attending several meetings, and working on projects in between those meetings.  Resource group involvement offers the flexibility to join projects based on your availability throughout the year.

More About General Committees

General committees are comprised of subject matter experts (SEM) who have shown leadership in the profession and can provide expertise and advice in selected critical areas to the board and executive management. General committees do not have governance responsibilities, though some are responsible for making regulatory or legislative policy recommendations approved by the FICPA’s Board of Directors.

Core activities of each general committee should include:

  • Exploration of potential impacts of emerging issues within the selected area of expertise on the profession and its practice.
  • Identifying and helping prepare thought leadership addressing emerging and evergreen concepts in selected area of expertise for practitioners and other key stakeholders.
  • Speaking or identifying speakers to share insights with members on current issues in webinars, conferences, and other learning formats.
  • Providing insight on the development or innovation of member programs or services.
