The FICPA Scholarship Foundation was proud to welcome Steven Morrison, CPA, CFF, CFE, as its 2023-24 Chair on July 1.
Steven is a Partner and the National Director of Audit at CohnReznick. He has extensive experience as an engagement partner, quality control reviewer, and standard setter to a variety of industries including automotive dealerships, employee benefit plans, freight forwarding/mail courier, retail, and wholesale/distribution. His current responsibilities include firm assurance methodology and consulting on complex auditing, attestation and reporting matters.
A member of the Board of Trustees since 2014 and last year's Chair-Elect, Steven has served on the Foundation's Programs and Finance committees. He's also been a key participant in the planning and execution of multiple Foundation events, including the Ocean Reef Family Retreat and South Florida Scholarship Night.
As part of the FICPA, he is a past Chair of the Accounting Principles and Auditing Standards Committee, the FICPA’s University of Florida Accounting Conference, and the Miami-Downtown Chapter. He has likewise served as a past member of the AICPA's Auditing Standards Board.
As Chair, Steven will help advance the Foundation's vision to attract talent and cultivate the accounting profession in Florida and its mission to provide support and foster success for current CPAs.
"Throughout my service to the FICPA, having the opportunity to provide tuition funds to our Foundation scholars has been the most rewarding," Morrison said. "I am honored to serve the Foundation as Chair and excited to work with our amazing Board of Trustees to expand the ways the Scholarship Foundation can assist students.
"We have a wonderful mix of professionals on the Board, representing large, medium, and small firms, private industry, and academia. This combined experience and expertise will help us continue to assist students in need, expand the profession, and serve the public interest.”
