Willful blindness is a term used in law that describes any situation where a person avoids liability for a wrongful act by intentionally keeping themselves unaware of facts that would render them liable or implicated. It is imperative that accountants and auditors become aware of and understand triggers of willful blindness when dealing with clients.
This presentation focuses on willful blindness and how it happens in the accounting and auditing arena. It specifically looks at how our perceptions and discomforts, and authority and power influence our behavior.
